Maura’s passion for yoga has only deepened since she first
stepped onto her mat in 1999, opening her eyes to a path of
holistic health. She found the movements and breath natural, and
began to find that embracing the present moment encouraged
healing, growth, and peace. Yoga has a healing effect, nurturing
one’s innate sense of well-being. By 2003 Maura felt guided
towards teaching what she loves & spreading the benefits of yoga
and wellness. She graduated from Saint Michael’s College with a
B.A. in Psychology. She studied with Frog Lotus Yoga for her
Yoga Teacher certification, and studied through The Trauma
Center at JRI to teach Trauma-Sensitive yoga. Maura studied Thai
Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand and is Level 1 Reiki certified.
Her style of teaching is compassionate, authentic, light
hearted, and intuitive. She encourages students to draw their
awareness inward and listen to the messages of the body.
Teaching with a sense of balancing effort with ease, she blends
the physical with the gentle aspects of yoga. In each class, she
works to bring balance into all the systems of the body,
including mind and spirit, so they function in harmony with each
other. Maura instructs Hatha, Vinyasa, and gentle classes to
students of all ability levels, and also enjoys teaching Partner
yoga. As a teacher and student of yoga, she is in an
ever-evolving state of experiencing the fullness of life on and
off the mat.

Marisa is trained in Classical Yoga, a tradition that
focuses on the philosophy and history of yoga while offering
the student a spiritual path to follow. She teaches a
contemplative Hatha Yoga style that uses breath and fluid
postures to encourage self-awareness and presence in the
moment. In her classes, Marisa creates space for mindfulness
in each asana, allowing the mind and body to become still.
In addition to Marisa’s current yoga teaching, she is
currently studying to become a yoga therapist at the Namaste
Institute in Rockland, Maine.
